Podcast HTTP Head Requests?

I got the following from Apple Podcast support. Can someone help me navigate it in Podlove? Thanks!

In researching your request further I confirmed that your podcast is not supporting HTTP Head requests. The episode URLs are only available as an attachment, which is not supported on Apple Podcasts. This is a requirement as outlined in [Podcast RSS feed technical requirements]
(Podcast RSS feed requirements - Apple Podcasts for Creators).
Please work with your host to resolve this issue and submit for a refresh of your podcast. Once you refresh the podcast it can take up to 24 hours for the updates to reflect on Apple Podcasts.

Feed is https://voiceoverpodcast.com/feed/mp3 I guess?

This is a tricky one because Apple is often pretty mysterious about it. I assume by “episode URL” they’re talking about e.g. https://voiceoverpodcast.com/2021/01/05/debra-sperling/. That looks fine to me.

First of all I’d contact your host. Your host/server should support HTTP head requests.

In the past, rejections based on missing HTTP Head requests often weren’t even about the Head requests but more about the format of provided episode images. You’re logo at https://evilgeniuscreative.com/voiceoverpodcast/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/HowDidYouDOItLogo3000.jpg looks fine to me though.
Individual episode images like https://i2.wp.com/voiceoverpodcast.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/poloroid-tomdheere.jpg?fit=750%2C750&ssl=1 do work too (only 750x750 though), even though it looks like some caching is going on. Do you use some kind of caching or “speed improvement” plugin? What happens if you turn it off and clear all caches?

@ericteubert, any additional ideas?

One more input:
Not your episode URLs but your media files are available as attachments. That is because of this:

I have never seen this being a problem though. But if nothing else is working you might want to temporarily revert this back until Apple has accepted your podcast.

Thanks, I’ll try my host. :slight_smile:

The relevant excerpt from the linked spec (Podcast RSS feed requirements - Apple Podcasts for Creators) is:

Display your show artwork and allow streaming playback of your episodes by enabling your hosting server for HTTP HEAD requests and byte-range requests.

So it concerns your audio files and cover art. It’s a (common) technical requirement to the webserver that your host should be able to help you with.
