Problem using the Auphonic integration (REST API?)

Hello,

I don’t know when this started but since a couple of weeks I’m running into problems with Podlove Publisher’s Auphonic integration.

The problem only occurs when I’m not logged in as Administrator when I only want to work on an episode. The users’ role is Editor.

When I create an episode as Editor or open an episode for edit, two “toasts” appear at the bottom saying rest_forbidden: sorry, you do not have permissions to use this REST API endpoint. The UI for Auphonic stays invisible, only a spinner and the text Wird geladen … is displayed.

The error messages appear in the network traffic as well. These are the requests for them:

  • https://[host]/wp-json/podlove/v2/auphonic/token?
  • https://[host]/wp-json/podlove/v2/admin/plus/features?

Both are GET requests, there are no parameters.

Both answers come with http status 403 and have the same content:

{"code":"rest_forbidden","message":"sorry, you do not have permissions to use this REST API endpoint","data":{"status":401}}

Wordfence is running but there seems to be no difference having Wordfence active or inactive.

As workaround I currently create new episodes as Editor and use the Auphonic integration as Administrator.

Do you have ideas what might going on here? Thank you!

Hi!

Some releases ago I tightened various permissions. Sounds like some endpoints went admin only that should be accessible by other roles. I’ll look into it.
