Hi Podlove team and community,
I’d like to ask for your advice regarding tracking with the Podlove Web Player 5.
Up until now, I only had simple links on my website pointing to Spotify & Co. These were easy to track with Matomo, so I could clearly analyze which episodes were clicked, how often, and even identify repeat listeners.
Now I’m testing a page that uses the Podlove Web Player 5, where visitors can access all episodes directly. Unfortunately, I haven’t found a way to properly track player usage yet.
My main questions are:
-
Is there a way to forward Web Player events (like episode clicks, play/stop, progress) into Matomo or other analytics tools?
-
If yes, is there an official add-on or recommended integration for this (paid solutions are also fine)?
-
Or would it be better to use Google Analytics or another tool instead?
What I’m mainly looking for is the ability to see listener journeys – for example, when a certain user repeatedly listens to specific episodes, or compares different ones. Not just raw click numbers, but how people actually use the player.
I assume I’m not the only one who’d be interested in this kind of data, so maybe you already have a solution in the works or some best practices to share.
Thanks a lot for your support!
Best,
Tobias
