Dear Podlove Community,
I’ve been happily hosting my client’s podcast using Podlove on their WordPress for the past few years - it’s been working great!
Now, the client is redesigning their website, and the developers have built it on a completely new WordPress. That means I need to migrate the podcast to the new WP as well.
What’s the easiest and most reliable way to do this?
Do I need to manually download and re-upload all the files, or is there a migration tool or plugin that can help? I searched the forum but couldn’t find a clear answer.
Thanks so much in advance for your help!
Hi,
There are multiple options.
-
Under “Modules”, you can enable the “Import & Export” module. You will then find the component under “Tools” with description on how to use it. It exports all episode metadata into files so it can be imported into the new system. It does not cover the actual media files. If you can’t leave them where they are now, you need to move them manually.

There’s a new onboarding assistant, that is able to import a podcast via its RSS feed. However since it’s RSS based, you don’t get all Publisher metadata into the new system. But it does automatically download the audio files into the new WordPress. Have a look at the tutorial video: https://youtu.be/s6jL6jk6hWk
I recommend 1) if possible, because it’s the most complete data transfer.
Hope that helps
