When testing the download icon on the player, it’s currently a three step process.
Click button, bottom section expands with name of file and another download icon.
Click this second download icon and it opened a new window within the podlove iframe to the HTML 5 mp3 player that
then allows an actual download.
Are there any plans to have the download button just download the file itself for ease of usability?

This download menu has to be in place because many offer more than one file format. This click is redundant though if you only offer a single file format. cc @zusatzstoff

Summary
Download servers usually deliver media files “as is” to a browser. Most of the times, browsers tend to try to open the files directly offering immediate playback. As web players are common these days, this behaviour is not ideal as most users expect the content to be downloaded to disk directly.
