WebVTT upload error - wrong filetype?

When I try to upload a valid webVTT file with the .vtt extension, I receive this error:

Transcript file must be webvtt. Is: application/octet-stream

When I change the file extension to .txt, I receive this error:

Transcript file must be webvtt. Is: text/plain

This is the file I am uploading: the-gate.txt (77.0 KB)

(I changed the extension to .txt to upload it here)

Any suggestions?

Thank you,
Todd

The file must be named the-gate.vtt.

In addition there is always a point at the end and 2 times better 3 times press enter.

That’s my experience, since you’ve already done all of this, all you have to do is rename the file to .vtt

Should work if the extension .vtt is correct, just tested it myself. There may be something in your setup that confuses the file type detection. Can you copy the contents of Podlove > Support? Might be a compatibility bug, so you can also open an issue here: https://github.com/podlove/podlove-publisher/issues

Thank you for the replies, but I assure you that the file I am trying to upload has the .vtt extension and I get the same errors. I’ve tried in both Firefox and Chrome browsers with the same results. Any other ideas?

I did open an issue on GitHub, thank you.
